Book Week

Book Week 2012 sees us celebrate our 10^th year of running this fantastic event, one that gets busier and bigger every year! This year we see the return of some favourite authors as well as introducing some new faces. Children will, I hope, be challenged by what they see and hear, as well as inspired to read, write and tell stories to one another, friends, family and staff! 

We begin the week a few days early with a bedtime reading party to get children in Years 2 & 3 in the mood and raring to go on Monday morning, when we have a whole school assembly. We will enjoy the talents of the Fire Poet, as he takes random words from the assembled group and turns them into a poem for the school. As well as this, we begin two days of creative workshops, with children learning how to make an African bead necklace inspired by a book written and illustrated by Karin Littlewood; a regular Book Week visitor.  

The Middle School, in the meantime, will enjoy plenty of humour with Steve Cole, the unstoppable author of the 'Astrosaurs' books and Elen Caldecott whose books have the most unusual titles! 

As the week progresses, all year groups will see yet more authors and illustrators, with the Senior School being chilled to the bone with stories of ghosts from Lindsay Barraclough and thrillers by Gemma Malley.
