Middle School Sponsored Swim

21 May 2010

“Wow – what a swim!”  The boys and girls from the Middle School set about this challenge with a very positive attitude and great frame of mind.  We set the challenge for them to swim across the English Channel; this target was easily surpassed after the Year 6 girls took up the challenge first.  They swam 1637 lengths, crossing the Channel with ease and beginning the journey back!

This set the target for all the other groups to beat.  The Year 5 girls and boys were unable to beat this huge amount of lengths but did manage to each cross the Channel once!  The Year 6 boys raised their game and swam 1799 lengths beating the Year 6 girls and bringing our total of Channel crossings to 4 and a half (an enormous 162,050 metres swum).  Currently the Middle School are floating around in the middle of the English Channel!

After such a huge effort in the swimming, next came the task of collecting the sponsorship money.  To date we have raised a fantastic sum of money totalling £5,156.26.  If you still need to return money please do as soon as possible, with any cheques made payable to “The British Lung Foundation”.

Thank you to all the boys and girls for their huge efforts and the PE department who helped to count the lengths and make this event possible.  Well done to you all.
