Supervision and Collection at the end of the School Day
27 January 2012
Downsend has one very important health and safety rule for every child after school. Namely, that all children on site are supervised and registered after 4.30pm. This means in effect that every child at Downsend after 4.30pm will be involved in a match, at a sports practice or club, or in Extended Day. Records are kept of all children who attend activities. This enables us to contact children quickly in the event of parents being delayed in collecting them, but also to account for everyone in the event of a fire or other emergency.
It is important therefore, for parents to support us in this important health and safety rule. Duty staff are encouraged to ensure all uncollected children are taken to Extended Day at 4.30pm. It is vital that parents support us in this policy, and do not encourage their children to make alternative arrangements (such as meeting them off site) in the event of them being delayed.
