Year 6 Girls Runner Up – Emily Roe

Year 5 Boys Team Runners Up – William Curwen, Edward Timpson, James Lamprecht

Year 6 Boys Team Runners Up – Tom Youngman, Tom Gill, Ben Geddes

Year 5 Girls 3^rd Place – Amy Brill

Year 6 Boys 3^rd Place – Edward Reed 

On Sunday 27th November, over 400 competitors took part in these championships from schools all around Surrey. 35 boys and girls from Downsend participated this year and between them achieved 3 Surrey Schools’ titles and 2 Surrey Schools’ Runners Up titles, with Gold medals for Best Swim for Edward Reed and Best Run for Emily Roe. 

We are always inspired by the effort that emanates from each and every Downsend representative, and the way they cheer each other on for the collective good of the school and the team. It is the support they give each other that helps to produce these spectacular results.

An enormous vote of thanks needs to go to Mrs Mercer and Mrs Sehgal, who spent the entire day on a cold track, but still managed to generate the enthusiasm that inspired the children to such success.

Thanks also to the parents, who have been magnificent in their support; particularly in ensuring the children were all in the right places at the right time, through training and on the day. Thank you each and every one of you. 

The times have now been submitted to Pentathlon GB for the official rankings lists, so we will have to wait to see who qualifies for the Semi Finals at Crystal Palace in February.
