Adventures in Books
Posted on 15 February 2011 in Library Blog by Louise Ellis- Barrett
I know that a Blog is intended to be a regular form of log on the web so it is my intention from now on to update this school library Blog at least two or three times a week to keep you updates with news about children's book, events and of course books.
To start off I am going to tell you a little bit about some of the books that I and the children have been reading recently, I would love to hear any thoughts that you may wish to contribute on this too!
This term, in the Middle School, we are playing a game of Readopoly, based very much on Monopoly we are all reading books to earn money, allowing us to buy properties and perhaps make even more money. The key to this game is however reading. The more we all read the more money we earn, what a wonderful incentive!
I don't need money as an incentive, just the excuse to sit quietly and disappear into a good book is enough for me. It seems that many of the children feel the same, though I can't deny the money isn't helping!
In order to get this Blog well and truly into action however it is time to recommend a book that may get a few of you reading so I am going to suggest the very witty and funny Diary of a Parent Trainer.
Why? because it is funny, clever and different and because so many of the children are enjoying Diary of A Wimpy Kid that this may offer them a different story but a familiar format.
Try it out and let me know what you think. I will be back later in the week with more suggestions and chat!
