Friendship Funday Friday
Posted on 06 June 2011 in Junior School Council by Ljubica Carmody
The Junior School Council suggested that we should hold a Friendship Funday, and so we did on Friday of the last half term.
Each year group ran a friendship-based activity at morning playtime, and our focus for the day was on reminding ourselves how lucky we are to have a school full of friends. Each class also created an acrostic poem, based on the theme that ‘Friendship Chains Link Us Together’. Listed below are a couple of poems for you to enjoy.
In an assembly, we decided that the three words that best describe true friendship are fun, kindness and sharing.
Well done to everyone for making our First Annual Friendship Funday such fun, and thank you to the Junior School Council for coming up with such a great idea.

Friends will be with you no matter what,
Respectful people will have fun friends,
I love my precious friends!
Everybody needs a loyal and helpful friend,
Never fall out with your friends
Downsend has lots of kind and playful friends
Share and care with everyone.

Fond, joyful moments spent together,
Ready to pick each other up whatever the weather.
Inside-out we know each other pretty well,
Encouraging faith that makes us propel.
Never leaves nor gives up on the other,
Doing things to help one another .
Sad and lonely when not around,
Honest, devoted companionship crowned.
In our hearts this special warmth flows,
Protects, encourages and so helps us grow.

Ready to stick up for you hour after hour
Incomparable friendship is never broken
Endless fun together throughout the day
Never let go, we are always there for each other forever
Day after day we are always there to support each other
Spending time together especially when we are upset
Happy because you are always standing by
In times of need we look out for each other
Perfect friends will be there till the end.
