Being Reckless...

Posted on 10 October 2010 in Library Blog by Louise Ellis- Barrett

As usual I am quite torn.  Torn by indecision, what should I tell you about first?  I have been reading so much recently and been to some very exciting events, so I suppose some news can wait and for now I will try to encourage you all to READ RECKLESS the latest story from Cornelia Funke.  Now her name may not sound familiar to many of you but I am sure that you will have read the book or seen the film of Inkheart – this book is by the same author and it is brilliant.

Cornelia Funke is not only a good story teller she is a great person, a fact attested to by her co-writer for this latest book, the executive producer of the Harry Potter films – now I am sure I have your attention and that you will be intrigues by this book and so you should be.  I admit that it is for older readers but Cornelia Funke has also written some great books for younger readers so do look out for them.

As I was saying she is a great storyteller and in this latest book she weaves fantasy, reality and fairytale.  To launch it she used as much drama in person as she does in her writing.  Entering a room full of invited guests in the heart of London in the most exquisite dress, especially made for and inspired by the story she was happily interviewed about the story and revealed that it had not been easy to write because of the twists and turns and decisions as to where to take the characters.  Fans of books in series will be pleased to know that this is the first instalment in a planned series and once you start reading it I am sure that, like me, you will be fascinated and intrigued.

So if you are at a loose end this week look up this book, find a copy and start reading!
