Senior School

Welcome to the Senior School at Downsend

Downsend School is fully committed to 13+ education. To that end we see the final years between 11 and 13 as the final acts of the play. Senior school pupils are able to thrive and contribute in familiar surroundings with familiar staff but at the same time are able to feel a sense of achievement and privilege in reaching the top of the school.

The curriculum remains diverse, challenging and entertaining but simultaneously prepares pupils appropriately for the relevant 13+ examinations. We are very proud of the atmosphere and ethos that has been created within the Senior School. The combination of enthusiastic children and committed and professional staff has brought us much to be proud of in recent years and we aim to continue to foster this sense of achievement and enjoyment across all areas of the curriculum.

At the end of their time at Downsend they are socially and academically prepared for the transition to their chosen senior schools, so they can take full advantage of the opportunities that await them.
