Downsend meets NASA

Downsend meets NASA

Downsend is delighted to welcome Colonel Douglas Wheelock, NASA Astronaut, for a very special online appearance.

The event will take place on Thursday 21 January, 2pm – 3pm.

NASA Astronaut, Colonel Douglas Wheelock (U.S Army, ret) will join us to inspire Downsend’s Reception – Year 4 children with tales of his 178 days in space.

These special appearances are very rare, and with thanks to Emma Duke at Little Downsend who prepared such a heartfelt application on behalf of the children.

Mrs Conlan and Mrs Kirkham will introduce Colonel Wheelock, who will then give a short talk about his Spaceflight experience, his career at NASA and his early life and education .

Then we need your child’s very best questions! If your child has a question, and would be prepared to read it out live during the event, please complete the very short form on Cognita Connect (in Forms, look for ‘My question to an astronaut’) by 10am on Wednesday so we can compile the best, send them over to NASA and to let you know what to prepare.
