Pre-Prep Epsom Parents' Information
This section of the website has been created to provide parents with answers to some of the most frequently asked questions that we have received. If you can`t find the answers that you are looking for please contact the school and we will forward the relevant information to you.
A. If your child is still in nappies when they join First Steps, please be assured that our Nursery staff are very experienced and fully equipped to begin toilet training along with you, when the time is right.
You will be invited to bring in a bag of nappies and appropriate spare clothes. Our Nursery staff will liaise with you regarding your child’s daily progress.
A. If you child has specific dietary requirements, we will ask you to let us know the details before you child starts with us. Our kitchen staff are quite used to catering for a wide range of dietary needs.
A. Our caterers prepare fresh food for us daily and look after us well. The menus are carefully balanced and prepared to ensure their nutritional value.
A. At Downsend Pre Prep Epsom we make the most of our outdoors environment every day, by visiting our Enchanted Woodland Garden. You child will need a pair of wellington boots and a pair of navy blue or black waterproof trousers along with a Downsend waterproof coat. Mini beasts, mud and fun are provided!
A. Younger children, who still enjoy a rest in the afternoons, are offered a sleep after their lunch. Our Nursery staff liaises with parents to ensure that these sleep times match the pattern at home as far as possible.
A. Downsend School run two very popular holiday clubs, for both Pre Prep (2-5 years) and Prep school (5-13 years) children. The holiday clubs are staffed by Downsend Teachers and Assistants, who already know the children. These clubs run during every school holiday, excluding Bank Holidays. Downsend are therefore able to offer approximately 50 weeks childcare cover and education per year.
A. We offer an Extended Day service, from 3.30 when school finishes until 6pm. We also run a variety of clubs after school which the children can join, followed by tea and a restful play, until they are ready for home time.
