Through-School Expansion to GCSE creating new opportunities.
We announced last November that Downsend will expand its educational provision through to GCSE offering a through-school education from aged 2-16 years. With effect from September 2020 we will welcome Year 9 pupils on site for the first time and, in May 2023, our current Year 6 pupils will be the first Downsend pupils to sit GCSE’s.
This expansion creates a host of new job opportunities for the right people as we prepare Downsend for the next phase of its history. We are a friendly and supportive team and we are looking for the right people to join us.

Reporting to the Headteacher and working with the Heads of the three Downsend Pre-Preps, the Head of Marketing and Admissions will lead the development and management of Downsend School’s marketing and admissions strategy in order to achieve incremental pupil roll. It is an exciting time to join the school as it plans for curriculum and site expansion to offer GCSE courses from September 2020.
Who are you?
Educated to degree level in Marketing or with equivalent Marketing / Communications / PR / Digital experience, you will be commercially astute with excellent analytical skills and data literacy. You will need to possess strong leadership experience, excellent social and presentation skills with the ability to establish and maintain good professional relationships with all stakeholders’ pupils, parents and colleagues. This exciting role requires strategic and tactical marketing skills with the ability to take both a strategic overview and hands-on approach to the school’s vision.
