Through-School expansion to GCSE creating new school vacancies.

In September we expanded our educational provision through to GCSE – offering a through-school education from aged 2-16 years. We have now welcomed Year 9 pupils on site for the first time and, in May 2023, these pupils will be the first to sit GCSE examinations at Downsend.

This expansion creates a host of new job opportunities in Surrey for the right people as we prepare Downsend for the next phase of its history.  We are a friendly and supportive team and we are looking for the right people to join us.

So if you are a great practitioner with a level of creativity and innovation to your teaching;  would relish contributing to the extra-curricular life of the school; are ambitious and are happy to challenge and be challenged in a positive way for better outcomes for the children, we want to hear from you.

Our current school vacancies can be found here and we will be adding new roles all the time, so please check back on a regular basis.

Downsend is a forward-thinking and innovative independent school. We prepare our children for the future with a creative approach to learning that inspires young minds. From nursery through to GCSEs, we provide the platform for academic success.

We are looking to appoint minibus drivers at our main site in Leatherhead to provide home to school transport for our pupils and transport for some sporting events during the day. This is a term time only role but there is the possibility of other occasional driving during the holiday periods for Downsend Plus holiday club as required by mutual consent.

We use 8 and 16-seater vehicles.   The larger vehicle requires drivers to hold a PCV licence with permission to carry passengers, but training could be provided for the right candidate willing to obtain this qualification.

The morning timings require the drivers to be on site to collect and check their buses at approximately 06.30am until 08.30am Monday to Friday.  We also require drivers to do the afternoon return journeys from 4.45pm until approximately 6.45pm. There is also a need for a daytime driver for swimming runs and school fixtures. This could be the same person, or these hours could be split and shared by two or more drivers.   We are also interested in hearing from anyone interested in being on a Bank supply basis to cover for absence.  Details can be discussed at interview.
