Through-School expansion to GCSE creating new school vacancies.

We will soon be expanding our educational provision through to GCSE – offering a through-school education from aged 2-16 years. With effect from September 2020 we will welcome Year 9 pupils on site for the first time and, in May 2023, our current Year 8 pupils will be the first Downsend pupils to sit GCSEs.

This expansion creates a host of new job opportunities in Surrey for the right people as we prepare Downsend for the next phase of its history.  We are a friendly and supportive team and we are looking for the right people to join us.

PA to Headmaster

Required April 2020

 An IAPS, co-educational, day school currently educating children aged 2 to 13, Downsend is a thriving and vibrant school which provides a refreshingly different education through a broad-based curriculum leading to outstanding academic success. From 2020, we will be accepting Year 9 pupils for the first time in preparation for our move to a GCSE provision. We are looking for a highly efficient and collaborative PA to the Headmaster for our growing school. The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive administrative and secretarial support service to the Headmaster so that he can undertake his role with maximum effectiveness.  The hours for this role are 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday,  This is a term time role plus 4 weeks to be worked during the school holidays throughout the year.  Competitive salary, free parking on site and lunch provided.

Teaching Assistant

Maternity Cover – Full Time

 Required as soon as possible

Inspiring Young Minds is our mantra and is central to our school, our aims and ethos. We encourage curiosity and discovery, inspiring our children through creative and interactive teaching so they enjoy learning and, more importantly, remembering what they’ve been taught both in and outside the classroom.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding Teaching Assistant to be based at our Prep School in Leatherhead. The role will involve supporting children within the Lower School, Years 2-5.   NVQ Level 3 or similar qualification required. This role will be for a fixed term to cover maternity leave.

Admissions Manager

Required March/April 2020

Downsend is an innovative, forward-thinking independent school, educating children from 2 to 13. From September 2020, we will welcome our first Year 9 pupils to our three-year GCSE programme.

At Downsend, we prepare children for the future with a creative and problem-solving approach to learning that inspires young minds.

Reporting to the Head, the Admissions Manager plays a key role in supporting all admissions activity for all four schools in the Downsend group. As an ambassador  for the School you will deliver excellent customer service to prospective parents and children.  Alongside the Admissions Assistant, you will develop a professional, customer-focused admissions experience from the point of initial enquiry all the way to enrolment. This is a full-time role. The hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Competitive salary, free parking on site and lunch provided.

Marketing Assistant

Interim fixed term role to 31 August 2020 (with the opportunity to become permanent)

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Marketing Assistant to support the Marketing Manager with all aspects of marketing within the school. This is a full-time role. The hours are 9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday.  Although this is initially an interim role until 31 August 2020 it is hoped the role will become permanent.  We offer a competitive salary, free parking on site and lunch provided.

Head of Humanities

The successful applicant will lead and promote the teaching of Geography, History and RS within the context of our ‘Inspiring Young Minds’ model, to ensure a high-quality, innovative learning experience for pupils.
