Contemporary spaces equipped for everything
Great teaching needs great spaces to happen in. Since 2019, Downsend has invested significantly in ambitious redevelopment across our sites, creating modern, innovative environments where pupils can learn, create, collaborate and thrive. From state-of-the-art science labs and design studios to our Creative Arts Centre and purpose-built Sixth Form campus, every space has been designed with our pupils and our future skills vision in mind.

The jewel in the crown of Downsend School
Our Creative Arts Centre
Our Creative Arts Centre is where ideas come to life, from first rehearsal to opening night, from first brushstroke to finished piece. Designed to give our pupils the space and facilities to really shine, it features a multi-purpose performance auditorium with tiered seating for 200, a black box drama and dance studio, a professional recording studio, flexible music and drama teaching spaces equipped with the latest technology, and a first-floor control room with dressing rooms and props storage.
It's a space designed to raise the bar and to show our pupils exactly what they're capable of.

Inside Little Downsend
Each of our Little Downsend settings has a character of its own. Located within charming Victorian townhouses across Ashtead, Epsom and Leatherhead, they're warm, welcoming spaces where our youngest children feel at home from day one.
Well-equipped classrooms, outdoor learning areas and spacious playgrounds give our children the room to explore, discover and grow, because at Little Downsend, learning and play are never really separate things.
Inside Downsend School
Our main site on Leatherhead Road is home to both Downsend Junior and Downsend Senior, set across generous, well-equipped grounds in the heart of Surrey. It's a campus that has been thoughtfully developed over the years, with modern teaching spaces sitting alongside extensive sports facilities, outdoor areas and the Creative Arts Centre, all within easy reach of each other.
Since 2019, the site has undergone significant investment, including five science laboratories, Design and Technology and Art and Textiles Studios, a Food Tech room, libraries, IT suites and breakout spaces for collaborative working. In 2023, an additional Senior School building was added to provide fresh, modern teaching spaces for our GCSE pupils, currently home to our Modern Foreign Languages faculty.
Inside Downsend Sixth
Downsend Sixth is a purpose-built campus designed with our A Level students in mind, and it shows. Two science labs, an art studio, an innovation room, a library and learning resource centre, and a spacious café all sit within a thoughtfully designed space that feels a step closer to university life, without losing the support and community that makes Downsend what it is.
And because Downsend Sixth students have full access to our main campus too, they can take advantage of exceptional music, drama and sports facilities whenever they need them.
