Entry Requirements:
We aim to create a vibrant and inclusive learning environment at Downsend Sixth. Entry requirements ensure that students are well-prepared for the academic rigour of A-Level study, while allowing flexibility to support individual potential.
General Requirements:
- Grade 5 or above in English Language or Mathematics
- Grade 6 or above in subjects chosen for A-Level (some subjects have higher entry requirements—see subject information on the following pages)
Exceptions may be made in consultation with Heads of Department, particularly for individuals who have demonstrated potential throughout the year or in mock examinations.
The AQA Art, Craft, and Design A-Level fosters creativity and individual expression through a broad spectrum of artistic disciplines, including fine art, graphic design, textiles, and 3D design. Students develop technical skills, refine their critical thinking, and build a comprehensive portfolio. Practical projects are complemented by contextual studies, which deepen their understanding of the cultural, social, and historical significance of art. Subject entry requirement: Grade 6 or above in Art if taken at GCSE
