At Downsend, preparing our students with future-ready skills is central to everything we do, and this week our Year 12s continued that journey with a new approach to developing their communication and employability skills.
Through @cognitaschools collaboration with @bodyswaps.vr, students have been using VR headsets to practice real-world scenarios such as job interviews, public speaking and debating, designed to give our students a taste of the professional world.
Each module guides them through interactive tasks before providing personalised, AI-powered feedback to help refine communication, confidence and other essential soft skills.

Downsend’s Reverse Advent Calendar 🎁
In the penultimate week of term, as a whole school, we are doing a Reverse Advent Calendar to support the Leatherhead Community Hub this Christmas!
Here are the themes for each day:
Monday - Chocolates and Sweets
Tuesday - Novelty Christmas Items
Wednesday - Card Games and Board Games
Thursday/Friday (combined collection day) - Jigsaws and puzzles and Toiletries
Drop-off points:

Main School - Please drop off items at the Turret entrance
Little Downsend (all sites) - Please drop off items at the Main Reception

Nelly, one of our Year 2 students at Little Downsend Leatherhead, has been crowned Age 6 Level 9 Bar and Vault National Champion at the IGA National Finals 2025!
This is a brilliant achievement and a reflection of Nelly’s hard work and commitment to gymnastics.
