Our Year 6 students recently had an incredible opportunity to enhance their rugby knowledge and team work skills with a training session from New Zealand born, former All Blacks and Harlequins rugby union player, Nick Evans. This enriching experience allowed students to broaden their understanding across various domains. Meeting Mr. Evans in person, they gained insights into his sports career, and his global experiences, leaving them inspired and filled with confidence and happiness. Following this valuable rugby session, we asked Mr. Evans a couple of questions about his rugby journey.

In New Zealand it’s our national sport so nearly every boy and girl play it from a young age. My friends played so I played from 8 years old.

Our heroes were rugby players, mine was Jonah Lomu so you wanted to be like him and wear the All Black jersey. Plus, you got to score tries and tackle people which was awesome!!

Work ethic, training hard and pushing through bumps and bruises to get better. Leadership skills and operating as a team. To win a rugby game requires teamwork, attitude, and togetherness.

Work Hard and don’t be afraid to make mistakes!!! To improve and get better requires you to fail and get things wrong. That’s ok, learn from them and focus on the next job.
