Meet the Head
Head's Welcome.
As Executive Head of Downsend, Rebecca Tear brings bold thinking, strategic leadership and a deep belief in what young people can achieve. Bex champions innovation, academic ambition and a school experience that prepares pupils for the future.
Previously Executive Head of Fulham School and Headmistress at Badminton School, Bex has led schools through growth, change and transformation, always with a clear focus on pupil potential.
Bex’s vision for Downsend builds on its strengths while embracing what comes next. Her belief in equipping children with the skills, character and mindset to thrive in an ever-changing world sits at the heart of Downsend’s Future Skills approach - and at the heart of her leadership.
OUR FUTURE SKILLS VISION
Our vision shapes decision-making at Downsend.
Whilst completely committed to every child reaching their full academic potential, we know that results alone will not enable our young people to go out into the rapid-evolving world and be the change-makers, the leaders, the innovators and the creators that are needed. So much of success is mindset, the resilience to challenge yourself, to go a little further whilst also working empathetically with others as a team.
Our vision is designed to make sure that we deliver outstanding opportunities for your child to become truly incredible.
Specialist teaching in specialist facilities
Our outstanding learning spaces.
Located on the Leatherhead Road, just a short walk from both Leatherhead and Ashtead, Downsend occupies a suburban campus.
Offering the best of both worlds, it is conveniently located and easy to get to by road, rail and bus, whilst also providing a large estate that caters for the Junior and Senior Schools, enabling them to occupy their own spaces with their own character.
Sporting facilities are excellent and offer opportunity across the major sports, whilst the brand new £5m Creative Arts Centre is the jewel in the crown.
